Winter Wonderland Maternity sessions are so elegant and beautiful! Central Minnesota provides ample opportunity to capture winter themed sessions. Snow is guaranteed from December through March leaving plenty of time to capture portraits like these. There are some common questions and hesitations I hear often, I would like to address below:
The portraits below were all taken in Foreston MN on our Family’s land. If you would prefer that we travel to you or to a special location we can do so for a fee to cover travel and because it is difficult to schedule maternity sessions back-to-back when we are traveling all over.
I understand the concern. Winter in Foreston Minnesota can get pretty chilly. During your session we will keep the cars running and take time for warming up between sets.
Naturally your kids will not want to be involved the entire session since it is cold outside. So we might start with them and end with them so that they get to stay warm in the car for the majority of the time. When we bring them out we will do so briefly and I highly suggest coats, gloves, scarves and hats! Bring snacks and rewards for doing a great job. As always make sure you feed everyone beforehand so that everyone’s needs are met. It increases the odds of them actually enjoying the process. Don’t forget, your session should feel like a playdate. No threats or harsh tones allowed. Our goal is to capture joy and connection first and foremost and that cannot be forced!
The position of the sun during winter provides us with a wider range of opportunity to shoot winter sessions. It is generally best to avoid high noon but we do not have to wait for “golden hour”. I recommend scheduling for 9 am, 10 am, 2 pm, or 3 pm.
Yes! As I write this it is still possible to get in before the end of March for a snow session. Reach out to start planning now. I look forward to helping you document this season of life, beautifully.
